Mint Festival Weekend

Come celebrate with us over Father's Day weekend at the Mint Festival in North Judson, Indiana! One of the area's oldest festivals, the Mint Festival has been keeping families entertained since 1977. The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum will be open Saturday, June 17, 2023, and Sunday, June 18, 2023.

The museum will be operating diesel and steam powered trips from our nostalgic depot in North Judson out to English Lake and return during the festivities. Diesel excursions feature both open-air and enclosed air-conditioned coach seating on both Saturday and Sunday. Bock Lumber Company #1 will be running steam excursions over the same route on Saturday only with open-air and caboose seating. All seating is first come, first served.

  Adults (Ages 16+): $14
  Children (Ages 3-15): $10
  Toddlers (Ages 0-2): Free

  Infants and toddlers may ride the train for free but must ride on a parent's or guardian's lap. Tickets purchased online will be charged a booking fee. Please read our refund policy.

  Diesel Excursions
  Our diesel-powered excursions take passengers on a 45-minute, 10-mile round-trip journey from North Judson to English Lake where the train crosses the beautiful Kankakee River before returning to town.

  Steam Excursions
  Our steam-powered excursions feature the amazing Bock Lumber Company no. 1 steam locomotive. This train leaves the depot in North Judson and takes passengers on a 45-minute, 10-mile round-trip from North Judson to the Kankakee River at English Lake.

  Please be aware that steam trains can be dirty! Our steam locomotive burns oil, but there is still plenty of smoke that is filled with particulates that can (and will) stain your clothing.
