Help Support the Tie Replacement Project!
In order to keep our trains running smoothly, the museum has worked with the Town of North Judson over the last several years to secure a transportation enhancement grant (TE grant) to replace ties along the rail line. The good news is that we got the grant. However, the opportunity has arisen to secure additional funding that will greatly increase the number railroad ties that can be replaced along the tracks.
We need to raise $51,773.20 for our portion of the matching funds needed for this grant. The project will allow contractors to replace 4,500 crossties and 220 switch ties along the old C&O route between North Judson and English Lake. The total scope of the project amounts to more than $500,000, but we only need to raise a small portion of that amount.
The museum spearheaded the effort to save this rail line from abandonment several years ago and this segment is the primary operating territory for the museum's tourist trains. We feel that it is very important to maintain the track. Please help by making a contribution to the museum. Any amount is welcome and it's easy to donate. You can mail us a check or donate online:
